“ENDOVASCULAR OPTIONS IN PATIENTS WITH ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATIONS” TRAINING PROGRAM HAS BEEN HELD IN MOSCOW

On October 9 – 10, the “Endovascular options in patients with arteriovenous malformations” training program was held under the auspices of the Russian Endovascular Neuro Society. The event was hosted at the premises of the Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnologies of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FCBRN of FMBA of Russia). Leading experts from both Russia and abroad, including K.Yu. Orlov, A.V. Savello, and R. Chapot, acted as mentors and examiners for the program.

The participants of the training program were promising and experienced specialists in endovascular neurosurgery from Russia and neighbouring states. They were not only introduced to relevant knowledge in anatomical and pathophysiological aspects of cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), but also had an opportunity to appreciate the advanced technologies in endovascular treatment of cerebral AVMs as experienced on national level and globally.

Training was specifically organized in a way that the participants could communicate in real time with leading top-qualified experts, ask questions, and receive professional insights and recommendations.

The knowledge obtained was tested on a daily basis, and the top performance was demonstrated by Bulat Shaikhutdinov, a specialist in X-ray-guided endovascular diagnostics and treatment at S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital, Moscow.

“I was honoured with the opportunity to participate! Specialists, colleagues, professors, and mentors – the ones to look up to – share their expertise, which was once considered a sacred knowledge and is now distributed in a clear and easily-accessible manner. This is a priceless experience that one simply cannot miss”, emphasized Bulat Shaikhutdinov, a specialist in X-ray-guided endovascular diagnostics and treatment at S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital, Moscow.

“Arteriovenous malformations are a relatively rare, but serious and dangerous vascular pathology potentially leading to hemorrhages and other severe complications, including fatal outcomes. This is why sharing knowledge and experiences accumulated over the recent 25 years of managing patients with cerebrovascular pathology is nothing short of vital.

The key advantages of endovascular interventions include low injury rate, short postoperative rehabilitation, and accessibility for patients with severe concomitant conditions. We’ve gathered the colossal experience in management of arteriovenous malformations in particular, and we’re ready to gladly share it with our colleagues”, told prof. Kirill Orlov, PhD, MD, the President of the FCBRN, FMBA, an internationally renowned endovascular neurosurgeon and the head of the training program.

The Russian Endovascular Neuro Society thanks our colleagues and partners for their help and support in organizing the event. Thanks to them, the community of specialists in endovascular diagnostics and treatment of vascular diseases has an opportunity to share experiences and provide advanced training, thereby improving the standards of medical care in Russia and abroad. Together we can effectively save thousands of patients and improve their quality of life.
