Report subjects sparked a genuine interest and resonated with the audience. The trainees enthusiastically asked questions and shared opinions. This format of the event proved efficient in terms of adoption of new knowledge and skills.

The first Management of Cerebral Aneurysm Patients course was held as early as 2019. It constitutes the first educational unit out of four, with each course dedicated to a specific pathology. The courses are held on the yearly basis, and there have been numerous changes since 2019. We’ve seen the introduction of new technologies, intravascular embolization hardware designed specifically for this category of patients, and we’ve also seen the arrival of a new generation of young professionals striving for new knowledge and experience in their clinical field. These doctors are the target audience of this unique course, which is on par with the international standards content-wise,” noted A.V. Savello, PhD, professor, Chief Specialist in X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Upon completing the course, the trainees have received their advanced training certificates and went through RENS performance appraisal. Daily testing allowed the organizers to rank the trainees based on their adoption of the material. This year, the winner decided by the testing results was Elena Nazarova, a neurosurgeon at the V.P. Demikhov City Clinical Hospital (Moscow). The second place went to DilmurodSan’atbekov, a neurosurgeon at the E. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center (Novosibirsk). The top 5 also included Vadim Borisenko, a neurosurgeon at the Luhansk Republican Clinical Hospital (Luhansk), Kirill Gorodnik, a neurosurgeon at the M.I. Kalinin Republican Clinical Hospital (Donetsk), and Bulat Shaikhutdinov, a specialist in X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment at the S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital (Moscow).

“The Management of Cerebral Aneurysm Patients course is not my first RENS event. As a young specialist, I always hold educational courses, conferences, and other RENS projects in high esteem, because they are always synonymous with priceless knowledge and experience shared by the best specialists in their respective fields. Insightful clinical cases based on numerous years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the lecturers, the information on the new techniques and their technical intricacies, these are all essential parts of the learning experience both an amateur and a seasoned doctor would appreciate. On top of that, what made this course special for me was that I’ve been awarded the winner’s certificate based on the testing results, which was unexpected and pleasant at the same time. I’m immeasurably grateful for that! Events like this give me and my colleagues a great inspiration for professional growth and a good motivation to study and be the better versions of ourselves,” said Elena Nazarova, a neurosurgeon at the V.P. Demikhov City Clinical Hospital, Moscow.

“It warms my heart to recognize that our Society has once again united young specialists and leading experts from the most advanced research centers. We all have a common goal of developing and introducing the cutting-edge endovascular technologies and improving the quality of medical care provided to cerebrovascular patients in our country. It is this idea that encourages us, and this course is no exception. We are very thankful to all the participants, who showed their interest in the event. I believe that each of us has learnt something new and will be able to put these knowledge and experience to good use. My special gratitude goes to our partners, who always support our new undertakings. Thank you!” said K.Yu. Orlov, PhD, Professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery with a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Course of the Faculty of Continuing Medical Education under the RUDN University, Head of the Research Center for Endovascular Neurosurgery at the Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnologies under the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA), and the Director of RENS.

The next RENS educational course will be held in 2025 and will be dedicated to management of arteriovenous malformations. The details about the event will be published later. Keep an eye on our news.

We thank our trainees for their engagement and are looking forward to our next meetings!
