A neurosurgeon from the Lugansk People’s Republic NR has undergone training at the FMBA’s Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnology

Supporting the medical institutions of the LNR and DNR is one of the most important goals set by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia that regularly provides emergency high-tech medical care to patients and trains doctors from the new regions of Russia.

In October 2023, Vadim S. Borisenko, a neurosurgeon from Lugansk Republican Clinical Hospital took his first professional enhancement course of 144 hours on the topical issues of endovascular neurosurgery.

The course was on-the-job training at Department of Radiosurgical Methods of Diagnosis and Treatment of the FMBA’s Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnology under the guidance of Kirill Yu. Orlov, MD, Head of the Research Center for Endovascular Neurosurgery and Director of the RENS.

Kirill Yu. Orlov has a tremendously experienced endovascular neurosurgeon who is eager to share his knowledge with a wide professional audience. In particular, during his training Dr. Borisenko was able to mastered endovascular techniques for treatment of such vascular pathologies as AVMs and aneurysms, and learn how to perform cerebral angiography. He also took part in a practical course on endovascular treatment of ischemic stroke.

“I am very grateful to the entire staff of the Center. The knowledge gained here under the guidance of Dr. Orlov will be especially useful in difficult situations. I have learned how to act in case of complications during operations, what measures to take in severe cases, I will definitely keep in contact with the colleagues who trained me and will try to develop these techniques at home!”, said Dr. Borisenko at the end of the internship.
