Current trends in endovascular neurosurgery have been discussed in the studio of Radio Moscow FM

How often do modern people have serious cerebral vascular problems, and what diseases do endovascular surgeries cure?

Kirill Yu. Orlov, Head of Research Center for Endovascular Neurosurgery of the of the FMBA’s Federal Center of Brain Research and Neurotechnology and Director of the RENS told about it on the air of Radio “Moscow FM”. In a conversation with hosts Karina Minina and Sergey Sergeyev, he talked about the current trends and future of endovascular neurosurgery. And, off course, they talked about robots!

“We have already started developing an endovascular robot so that the surgery can be done remotely, via the Internet. Only assistants will be needed to make the punctures, then everything can be done remotely. We’ve had experience with this before – it’s already been done on the heart. This helps, for example, in operating people in remote regions, or robots can help young doctors…”, said Dr. Orlov. He also told how one can prevent a cerebral vascular disease and what vitamins are best to take for it.
