Third Educational Course on Ischemic Stroke Treatment Has Taken Place in Kazan and Moscow

The educational course took place in Kazan (October 21-22) and Moscow (November 24-26) and was devoted to the peculiarities of endovascular treatment of stroke patients.

The course summoned 150 participants to dive into the details of pre-hospital stroke diagnostics, patient logistics and rehabilitation.

During the course, the lecturers provided a detailed review of surgical and nonsurgical approaches to ischemic stroke treatment such as mechanical thrombectomy and thrombolysis. The course’s agenda also included lectures on the role of imaging methods for selecting a proper treatment tactic in stroke patients; the imaging-based selection criteria for different treatment options.

A vivid discussion followed a series of lectures considering the legal aspects of a doctor’s daily practice, which is an essential but often ignored part of healthcare in Russia.

The offline course had been designed in a way to enable maximum interactivity and allow everyone to express their opinion and share their experience in stroke treatment.

Upon completion of the course, Kirill Yu. Orlov, Head of Research Center of Endovascular Neurosurgery at Federal Center of Brain and Neurotechnologies and Director of RENS was elected to be an official ambassador for the European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT), which has been the first kind of such appointment in Russia.

“I thank the organizers for the opportunity to take part in this educational course on a very topical issue, especially today when high-tech treatment options have become more available for patients with cerebrovascular diseases. In 2022, we start a stroke program in our medical center, and the knowledge I gained during the course will come in handy. I also would like to highlight the course’s agenda that combined interactivity, the high quality of provided information and online communication with those lecturers who had been unable to join us offline. The stands with different surgical expendables also came in handy – it is always better to be able to put a hand on a thing. I also would like to personally thank Mikhail Yu. Volodukhin to his helpfulness, readiness to provide any sort of assistance and his lecturer’s talent to make complex matters easy to understand. “
